The way you carry yourself speaks before your mouth moves. Therefore, when applying for employment make sure that:
1. Atleast have an idea of what YOU have to offer.
2. I DON’T care what position you’re applying for ALWAYS dress as if you’re going to be interviewing with the President. Meaning no jeans, no graphics basically NO street wear. Don’t get me wrong the job may not even have a dress code but it is VERY true that you can be defined by your appearance.
3. Confidence is the most powerful way to advertise yourself. If you seem doubtful about your skills and experience how do you think an employer will take you? FYI: the résumé is only a blueprint YOU have to sell yourself.
4. Don’t ever think you are the weakest link. Remember the interviewer was once the interviewee. But don’t get COCKY! Be assertive yet humble enough to adapt.
Suggested interview attire:
Ladies:
-Black, Gray or Navy skirt(knee cap length), dress pants or church dress is the MOST basic yet but the key is to NOT focus on your fashion unless that’s of course what you’re applying for even then your knowledge speaks for itself but the main focus is YOU!
-Blouses and button ups, if you wear a tank PLEASEEEEEEE cover up with a blazer or cardigan
-A nice neutral closed toe pump, not everyone has them so I would suggest atleast a pointed toe flat because they look more professional than round toe
-If you must wear makeup make it as natural and clean as possible, not too much jewelry and please stick to a basic clean hairstyle
Guys:
-Nice slacks or khakis (ironed) w/belt or suit if you prefer
-collar shirt or crisp button down
-nicely groomed hair
-casual or dress shoes
