Most people have way more to offer beneath the surface than what they actually exhibit on a resume and applying for jobs in general….dun dun dunnnnnn the Iceberg Complex. I say this frequently “applying for a job is a job”, meaning that planning & strategy are a couple of tools you need especially when trying to transition form one industry to another.
First, start with yourself by evaluating your natural skills. What comes to you like second nature that you can combine with the requirements of the job or industry you’re seeking employment? Research the targeted industry, analyze jargon or language used within the industry to describe the perspective occupation and blend what you have already done professionally, academically and/or within the community to execute your presentation.
A solid resume is literally about compiling the BEST occupational information to attract the attention of the employer. Give them multiple W.O.W. (Will Obviously Work) Factors. I have created a formula motivated by a professional development course (2019) Career Hacking™: Resume, LinkedIn, Interviewing +More a lecture instructed by Bay Area Recruiter David Jones on how to make sure you create the perfect resume to be tossed in the callback pile:
- The Lucky 7
- 6 Questions
- 5 Methods
- 4 Sections
- 3 Bullets
- 2 Recruit =The $1K Resume…..(more on this later)
Like I said searching for a job is a job but it’s also you investing in yourself and you get in what you put out…even if it means HIRING someone to do it 😉
